#Watching the penultimate episode of His Dark Materials (S03e07). Marisa Coulter, played with terrifying brilliance by Ruth Wilson, has got be one of the most impressively written woman characters in speculative fiction. At least among those written by men.

I don't want to say too much, for those who have neither read the books nor seen the full series. But some of her character moments, and the transformations she goes through ... words fail me. Not common.

Hi! I have no clue what kind of stuff you like. But I just love audio books, so I had to answer.

The classic fantasy novel 'Northern Lights' by Philip Pullman is one of my all-time favourite books and has a well produced audio book with multiple voice actors.

Then there is the 'Stranger Times' urban fantasy series, written by C. K. McDonnell and read by Brendan McDonald. Purely in terms of voice acting those are my favourite audio books, the narrator is brilliant. But they're also great stories and very funny.

My favourite science fiction book series is the 'Expanse' by James S.A. Corey and I can recommend the audio books for this series as well.

Finished all of #HisDarkMaterials. Glorious—everyone in this cast is exceptional. Only fly in the ointment was the moderately unnecessary end-credits postscript. But it remains a crying shame the BBC almost seems embarrassed it commissioned something good & (in @age's words) just slopped it out on iPlayer, because... christmas? And that's when people binge streaming series??? Someone's spreadsheet probably said it was a good idea.

#JustWatched episode 1 of the final season of HIS DARK MATERIALS and again amazed that the BBC decided to sneak this out under the radar by dumping the whole lot on iPlayer at Christmas last year because... ?????? Everyone's so good in this! The costumes! The production design! The work that went into it! How does Auntie repeatedly screw the pooch with what should be its biggest assets? #HisDarkMaterials

TV update (1/2):
#hisdarkmaterials - So disappointed in Season 3 Episode 7. The final battle was a let down. The fight with Metatron was laughable. Ever since Lyra and Will have entered the Land of the Dead the show has been treading water, it’s own death looming over it. One episode to go. It’s rare that a series has gone from being so good to a chore to watch so fast.
#Willow - I don’t know who wrote the dialogue for this, but aside from the occasional good joke, it is incredibly awkward.

You know when you know something's coming, but rather than soften it, it kinda makes it even more powerful?

So, yeah. I just finished watching His Dark Materials season 3 episode 4...

I KNEW that moment was coming, but my eyes still leaked profusely & my nose is still running 😭
