Setsune Wave
Nintendo Direct late thoughts, copy-paste from elsewhere with a much smaller character limit, so there's some odd breaks and shortening.

As an overall thought, I can't wait for the Switch 2, as watching these games struggle against the hardware limits is painful.

Mario & Luigi Brothership had nice animation, but I didn't like something about the look and especially the character designs. Ooh, never seen power outlet characters before~

Nice that Switch Sports wasn't totally abandoned, but I'm sure certain sections of the internet reflexively sneered at blue and pink hair on sight.

MIO looked pretty and basically Hollow Knight x Celeste or Meatboy.

Hello Kitty actually looked cute, but with the way it was running, no way I'd play it on Switch.

Looney Tunes: Wacky World of Sports looked not literally like a PS1/DC game, but like the type of Looney Tunes game they'd make in that era.

Farmagia sounded wrong being said like that. Like the announcer was saying something inappropriate.

Donkey Kong County Returns looked... bad visually, like the gamma was off in the trailer or something. Or maybe it really looked that flat on Wii.

Why is the Funko Fusion kids game based around mostly Millenial (or even Gen X) fan bait? FNAF was practically the newest part of it, and even that was the oldest version of it.

I'm shocked some of those games weren't already on NSO Expansion Pass. Zero Mission wasn't there, actually?

MvsC Fighting Collection I should be excited about, but still kind of fizzled. It looked a bit characterless. Didn't show well. The Punisher laughably stuck out being bundled with 6 fighting games, but better to have it than not.

Super Mario Party Jamboree is a terrible name. I can't tell if including old boards comes from nostalgia bait or "making up new boards is hard". More Nintendo games recycling the past.

"We finally made the Zelda game where you play as Zelda (besides that DS one)! Oh, she doesn't fight with a /sword/, she's ~Wisdom~! She can make boxes and beds!" Fuuuucking hell. I get there'll be subversions of expectations, but I'm getting real tired of Nintendo's "It's the GIRL spin-off!" garbage.

And of course it had to be sporting that Link's Awakening remake "toyetic" look. Abstract it as far as possible! I get development realities behind reusing technology, having a mechanic you want to use and the limitations that enforces. But also this gets insulting, yeah? Like you do it this way too often with these spin-offs, then it doesn't hit expectations, then the idea of them headlining anything is shelved for a while.

I already know the Explainers are already out there defending why this "makes so much more sense for the character" and I don't want to hear it. It's not like there's literally one Zelda with one personality they had to work around. They chose this framing.

Okay, let's wrap it up:

It's funny that "Do you want to live like a Hobbit" is a suitable enough fantasy to base a game around and probably got an enthusiastic initial response by many.

Ace Attorney Investigations is a nice surprise, Owned the first DS one but didn't play it far enough. Sprites were great.

The Hundred Line really just... I'm getting jaded on these "Oh they're in school but these cartoony-looking monsters show up but they kill people horifically and here's our Monokuma stand-in" settings. Is that too specific? Surprisingly no.

SaGa 2 trailer made it look super generic.

I guess I'll have to include a reply for the last one! We almost got the whole thread in one, though. #NintendoDirect #Nintendo #Gaming #Direct
