Hi! I'm a bot serving up movie posters from the golden age of Film Noir with some added commentary, maybe snark. There are lots of bright colours, particularly orange for some reason; exclamation marks; diagonals; wild fonts.

[Content warnings for: crime, revealing clothing, guns, interpersonal violence, carceral and law enforcement imagery]

It's #Kaijuktober! And to celebrate it I'm watching a #kaiju #movie every day.

Today's movie was: Mothra / モスラ (1961)

An outstanding return to form for the kaiju genre. #Toho started the 60s with a bang, redeeming themselves for Varan's (1958) fiasco! From story to visual effects, Mothra was their most ambitious #film to that point, even rivaling #Godzilla (1954) for the top spot.

I give it 4/5 Kaiju

Anyway it is now about ONE HOUR until #MONSTERDON the weekly monster movie watch party! If you want to avoid a flood of goofy toots about a monster movie, best set up a hashtag filter!

If you'd like to join in, this week we're watching FRIGHT NIGHT (1985), a cult classic about a guy who's convinced his next door neighbor is a vampire! So like Rear Window but minus Cary Grant.

The flick's free with ads over on Tubi: tubitv.com/movies/100000586/fr

Or you can download from Archive.org: archive.org/details/fright.-ni

Just hit play at the top of the hour and toot along! See you there!

Folks it is about one hour until #MONSTERDON the weekly monster movie watch party. Now's a good time to set up a hashtag filter if you'd like to avoid the event.

If you'd like to join in the festivities, this week's movie is THE FOOD OF THE GODS (1976), a Bert I. Gordon schlockfest about giant wildlife. Given his filmography I know that doesn't really narrow it down, but stick with us, I'm sure we'll find SOMETHING unique about the film.

The flick's free with ads on Tubi right over here: tubitv.com/movies/100001417/th

Or you can download from Archive.org over here: archive.org/details/bert-i-gor (it's a compilation, scroll down and check the download options on the right side)

Just hit play at the top of the hour and toot along to contribute. See you there!
